Hi Everyone,

We ran out of time last meeting talking about Phone Photography. It's such a huge subject, so we have a few more tips and tricks to talk about on Wednesday.

We'll talk about some interesting phone apps available as well as more ideas of how the phone cameras can create stunning images.

Phone Photography - Part 1

Hi Everyone,

It was such an interesting hands-on meeting on Wednesday that we didn't manage to get through it all in one session, there is such a lot to learn about smart phones. So we'll continue the subject at our next meeting on the 6th of June. In the meantime try all the functions you've learned and send us a photo you've taken with your phone for the Show and Tell segment.

They say the best camera is always the one you have with you. In this techno-age, it is most likely your smart phone. So we're going to talk about taking pictures with your phones.

We'll also look at some interesting Photo Apps that users are excited about.

The Topic for this Wednesday is PHOTOGRAPHING PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN

Portrait Photography is more than head and shoulders. It can be the whole person set in their environment to make the photo tell a story. On the other hand, it can be a photo of parts of the body, like hands, or you can fill the whole frame with the face or part of it. 

We'll talk about tips of photographing children.

Are we ready for another term of Photography Basics? Our first class is next Wednesday at 10am.

Following our last talk on Travel Photography, the challenge for the Show and Tell segment was to send us a photo from a recent trip so we can include it in our slideshow. Please send it to dianebohlen@gmail.com before next Tuesday.

The main topic will be "THE HEART OF A PHOTO," in other words, how to evoke emotion and move viewers of your photos so they gasp in awe.

End of Term 1

Hi Everyone,

Today's photography lesson was the last one for Term 1. Bill and Diane will be in Singapore on the 21st March so no class on that day.

There are no U3A lessons in school holidays so, the first lesson in Term 2 will therefore be on Wednesday 18 April at 10.00am.

The challenge for those who want to participate, send in one photo of a recent trip you've been on.
